The title of this book was taken from the much acclaimed Hologram of Baal which was released in 1998.

"The music of the church helped to enrich my life in many ways. It certainly changed the life of Robert Lurie who has written the definitive account of the church and the life of it's main protagonist, the ever creative and artistically complex Steve Kilbey. This is more than just a band biography; it's also the personal journey of one Church fanatic, a journey to which we can all relate. - IAN MCFARLANE,  author of The Encyclopaedia of Australian Roc

  1. No Certainty Attached review from The Big Takeover, Jan 2010

Posted by Unknown on 25th Jan 2012

You have rarely read a more personal and revealing biography as this. Lurie is more than a fan of the Church; they obsess him. Written with the cooperation of Kilbey and the rest, he shines a light into all the darkest corners of the enigmatic pop group and shows why--and how--they've survived so long. From the heights of fame to the depths of drug use, The Church has done it all, and Lurie has lovingly--and obsessively--captured it with this long overdue book. Highly recommended. -James Mann
